Endpoint:
explosiveness
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From September 22, 2004 to September 30, 2004
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Parameter:
thermal sensitivity - Koenen test: diameter of the orifice plate
Remarks on result:
not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement

The heat of decomposition was below 500 J/g. Therefore, the test on explosive properties was not performed.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Under the study conditions, the test substance was found to be non-explosive.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the explosiveness of the test substance according to the EU Method A.14, in compliance with GLP.

As a screening method for the determination of explosive properties, a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) under nitrogen was performed. The heat of decomposition was below 500 J/g. Therefore, the main test on explosion properties was not performed.

Under the study conditions, the test substance was found to be non-explosive.

Description of key information

The test substance is non-explosive (Franke, 2004).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

No explosive properties found in a guideline test.
