Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance Y-15099 (CAS 220727-26-4) is hydrolytically unstable with a DT50 of 45.5 h at pH 7, 0.0628 h at pH 4 and 4.46 h at pH 9 (Tarran and White, 2012). Corresponding hydrolysis products were not measured in this study but can be deducted from the chemical structure. Octanoic acid, silanetriol, (3-mercaptopropyl)- and ethanol were identified as hydrolysis products of Y-15099.

Phototransformation in air is not considered to be a relevant degradation pathway since evaporation into air is negligible based on the calculated Henry’s Law Constant of < 1 Pa m³/mole for Y-15099 and its hydrolysis products (Müller, 2012). The hydrolysis product ethanol, which is expected to participate mainly to the atmospheric compartment is well characterized and the expected half-life was estimated to be 10 - 36 h. It's photochemical ozone creation potential is considered to be moderate to low (OECD, 2004).
