Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Details on study design:
34 workers of a DMAPN producing plant were examined as followed: anamnesis, general clinical examination, x-ray examination of the lung, electrocardiogram, clinical chemistry. The mean exposure time per worker was 9.35 years (1.1 to 33.4 years). Maximum room air concentrations per shift
0.007 to 0.024 ppm in the last 3 years before examination. Higher concentration may be supposed in former times

Results and discussion

Results:
Maximum room air concentrations per shift
0.007 to 0.024 ppm

Anamnesis
Nephrotic diseases were stated in 3/34 cases (pyelonephrolithiasis, recurrent infection of the urinary tract and hypertrophy of the prostata), but were not comparable to typical observed DMAPN effects. In one worker the urethral syndrome was detected.

General clinical examination
No typical symptoms found

X-ray examination of the lung
No pathological findings

Electrocardiogram
In 3/34 workers, weak dysfunction in neuronal conduction and exitation was observed. Effects were however not atributable dimethylpropioaminonitril.

in summary There were 12 medicinal findings in 9 of the 34 workersexamined. Findings correlate significantly with the age of the workeres but not with the exposure. In conclustion no effect related to Dimitylpropioaminonitril was foud in this study.

Clinical chemistry
No exposure-related findings

Any other information on results incl. tables

Room air concentrations in the years before 1977 should be considered higher than the concentrations measured here.

Signs of urinary retention, sexual dysfunction, urinary pain, insomnia, irritability, muscle weakness, paresthesias, which were observed in other studies, were not seen in this study.
