Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations. 

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One guideline study on the acute toxicity of the substance to microorganisms is available. The study was conducted in compliance with OECD guideline 209. The respiration of activated sludge was detected during 3 hours exposure to the test substance. At test termination an EC50 >1000 mg/L was determined. The EC20 was 519.4 mg/L (Ciba-Geigy, 2008).
