Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
storage stability and reactivity towards container material
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2012
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Guideline study with acceptable restrictions.
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
other: Screening procedure and Digital Thermal Analysis (DTA)
Results:
Self-reactive substances
SADT > 75 °C, not self reactive
heat of decomposition: - 380 J/g

DTA (3 K/min):

A weak exothermic reaction (-10 J/g) was detected at 80 °C.

Above 321 °C began a exothermic reaction (> -380 J/g), which was not completed until 500 °C. The first exothermic reaction was an oxidizing reaction with the residual oxygen in the glass container. It disappears under argon.

Based on the onset-temperature (321 °C) it is expected that SADT is > 75 °C.

Conclusions:
The self-reactive substances showed a SADT >75 °C and it is therefore not self reactive.
Executive summary:

The determination of self-reactive substances was measured at screening procedure and showed a heat of decomposition of -380 J/g. The measuration of Digital Thermal Analysis (DTA) showed following result: A weak exothermic reaction (-10 J/g) was detected at 80 °C. Above 321 °C began a exothermic reaction (> -380 J/g), which was not completed until 500 °C. The first exothermic reaction was an oxidizing reaction with the residual oxygen in the glass container. It disappears under argon.

Based on the onset-temperature (321 °C) it is expected that SADT is > 75 °C and it is therefore not self reactive.

Description of key information

The self-reactive substances showed a SADT >75 °C and it is therefore not self reactive.
