Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid having a melting point <= 160°C
Endpoint:
auto-ignition temperature, other
Remarks:
BAM oven minimum ignition temperature

The Minium Ignition Temperature determined in the BAM oven is greater than 580 deg C.

Conclusions:
The Minimum Ignition Temperature determined in the BAM oven for T001036 is greater than 580°C.
Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Reliability:
4 (not assignable)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:

Principles of method if other than guideline:
Modifications to the EU A.16 Method: A heating rate of 1.0-1.2 deg C/min or 0.6 deg C/min is used instead of 0.5 deg C/min due to an alternative Swiss Chemical Industry method and technical restriction of the apparatus used. Cylindric wire baskets with 0.2 mm openings are used.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point

-heating rate: 1.2 deg C/min

-the sample is heated from room temperature (about 20 deg C) to +/-120 deg C (nearby the melting point)

-the sample shows no self-heating to 400 deg C in the test run

Conclusions:
In conclusion, the tested substance T001036 is not auto-flammable up to the temperature applied in the test run. The substance has no relative self-ignition temperature.

Description of key information

No key information is available. However, testing can be waived based on the fact that the substance has a melting point below 160°C. Two supporting studies (Klimisch 4) support the conclusion that the substance should not be considered as autoflammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two Klimisch 4 studies are available for the determination of autoflammability of T001036. The study by PSC (1985) was performed according to VDI Guideline 2263 Part 1 and ESCIS Expert Commission for Safety in the Swiss Chemical Industry, Booklet 1 and reported that the Minimum Ignition Temperature determined in the BAM oven for T001036 is greater than 580°C. The study by PSC (1977) was performed according to EU Method A.16 (with deviations), VDI Guideline 2263 Part 1 and ESCIS Expert Commission for Safety in the Swiss Chemical Industry, Booklet 1 and determined that T001036 is not autoflammable up to the temperature applied in the test run (near the melting temperature). The substance has no relative self-ignition temperature.

Since the reliability of the studies could not be evaluated (Klimisch 4), their results can be considered as supporting information, supporting the conclusion that the substance is not autoflammable. New testing can be waived because the melting point is < 160°C.
