The most sensitive organism regarding exposure to 2-ethylhexyl cyanoacetate (CAS 13361 -34 -7) was the aquatic green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus (72 -h ErC10 = 1.91 mg/L; 72 -h ErC50 = 4.5 mg/L).

Short-term toxicity to fish:

With high probability acutely harmful to fish.

Experimental data on the toxicity of 2-ethylhexyl cyanoacetate (CAS 13361 -34 -7) to fish are not available. Regarding the tonnage band (1 -1000 t/a, intermediate) a study on the short-term toxicity to fish is not required. However, in order to assess the acute toxicity to fish, QSAR models were used.

The acute toxicity of 2-ethylhexyl cyanoacetate (CAS 13361-34-7) to aquatic invertebrates was tested according to EU Method C.2 (Acute Toxicity for Daphnia). The test was performed with Daphnia magna under static conditions. Based on measured test concentrations, the 48-h LC50 was determined to be 15.5 mg/L.

The toxicity of 2-ethylhexyl cyanoacetate (CAS 13361-34-7) to algae was tested according to EU Method C.3 (Algal Inhibition test). The test was performed with Desmodesmus supsicatus under static conditions. Based on measured test concentrations, the 72-h ErCC50 was determined to be 4.5 mg/L (72-h Er10: 1.91 mg/L).
