Description of key information

The water solubility of FC-72 at ca. 23°C was determined to be 84.1 µg/L using a modified column elution test method.

In the key study, the solubility of FC-72 in Milli-Q water was determined using the Shake Flask method according to OPPTS 830.7840 and was conducted under GLP. Triplicate samples were incubated for 5, 6 and 7 days at approximately 30 °C. Samples were equilibrated at room temperature (~ 23°C) for at least 24 hours prior to analysis by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). FC-72 has a measured water solubility of 84.1 ug/L at approximately 23˚C. The overall %RSD was 8.1%. This study is a guideline study conducted under GLP. It is considered reliable without restriction (Klimisch 1).

Two previous experiments were conducted to determine the water solubility of FC-72 using Fluorine-19 NMR spectroscopy and GC analysis, respectively. Both experiments resulted water solubility of ≤ 5 mg/L. However, no guideline was followed for either of these experiments. In addition, these studies´ summary report did not provide sufficient key information for assessment such as sample preparation and test method. Therefore, this study is assigned a Klimisch 4 ranking (reliability not assignable).
