Description of key information

Isopropenyl acetate was administered to inoculum (activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage plant) according to OECD Guideline 209. The substance is not hazardous for microorganisms under the conditions used in this test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
3 100 mg/L

Additional information

Isopropenyl acetate (purity > 99.9%) was administered at concentrations of 625, 1250, 2500, 5000 and 10000 mg/l respectively to inoculum (activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage plant) according to OECD Guideline 209. The basis for effects was the respiration rate. The test was performedat 30 min and repeated after 3 hours of exposition. 3,5 -Dichlorophenol served as a positive control substance and worked as expected. The EC50 (30 min) was determined to be 5000 mg/l whereas the EC50 (3 h) was 3100 mg/l. Therefore the substance is not hazardous for microorganisms under the conditions used in this test.
