Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No experimental study is available for 3,5,5 trimethylhexanoic acid, mixed esters with dipentaerythritol (CAS 84418-63-3) investigating the abiotic hydrolysis. In accordance with column 2 of Annex VIII 9.2.2.1 of (EC) No 1907/2006 the testing is not required as the substance is highly insoluble in water. The water solubility of 3,5,5 trimethylhexanoic acid, mixed esters with dipentaerythritol is < 10 µg/L at 20 °C. However, hydrolysis rates for the main components of 3,5,5 trimethylhexanoic acid, mixed esters with dipentaerythritol were calculated using HYDROWIN v2.00 (Szymoszek, 2015). The results show that the abiotic hydrolysis is not a relevant degradation pathway (6.7 - 9.9 yr at pH 7; 240 - 360 days at pH 8).
