Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation in water:

Prediction model based estimation and data from read across (CAS no 8004 -92 -0) are used to determine the biodegradation potential of the test compound CAS no 84864 -68 -6. The summary is as follows:

The test compound sodium 2-(2 3-dihydro-1 3-dioxo-1H-inden-2-yl)quinoline-6-sulphonate (CAS no 84864 -68 -6) is not readily biodegradable (Estimation Programs Interface Suite, 2016).

Short term aerobic biodegradation study was conducted by Pagga et al, 1986 for the test material Acid yellow 3 (RA CAS no 8004 -92 -0). Readily water-soluble dyestuff acid yellow 3 was subjected to modification of the OECD Guideline 302B of the static test method. 100 mg/L dyestuff was tested with 0.5 mg/L activated sludge for inherent biodegradtion for upto 42 days. The feeding used for inoculums was 100 mg/L yeast extract every week. Extinction at absorption maximum and DOC (dissolved organic carbon) were the parameters included in the study. The test compound Acid yellow 3 showed -44% DOC removal suggesting that it is not biodegradable under the mentioned test conditions.

The above data suggest that the target test chemicalsodium 2-(2 3-dihydro-1 3-dioxo-1H-inden-2-yl)quinoline-6-sulphonateis likely not to be biodegradable.
