Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to fish
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Test follows accepted Guidelines available in 1988, no GLP, limited but sufficient reporting
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)
GLP compliance:
no
Analytical monitoring:
no
Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
50 mg of test substance were weighted in a 400ml flask, diluted with water and homogenised by ultra turrax and ultrasound. The solution was transferred to the test container under continouous stirring and another 2h stirred with a KPG-stirrer.

Solution was turbid and deposit occured at water surface.
Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)

Total exposure duration:
96 h
Post exposure observation period:
none
Hardness:
not reported
Test temperature:
Temp:21-23°C
pH:
pH(Control): 7.6-8.0
pH(limit):7.3-8.0

Nominal and measured concentrations:
Nominal concentration: 0, 5000mg/l
Details on test conditions:
The test substance was weighted in a 400ml flask, diluted with water and homogenized by ultra turrax and ultrasound. The solution was transferred to the test container under continuous stirring resulting in a 5 g/l concentration and was stirred for two additional hours by a KPG stirrer.
The solution was turbid and deposit occurred at water surface.
Reference substance (positive control):
no
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
NOEC
Effect conc.:
5 000 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
> 5 000 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Details on results:
In a range finding study 2 zebrafish have been exposed in concentrations 100, 500 , 1000 and 5000 mg/l. No mortalities have been observed.
In the limit test 10 zebrafish have been exposed to 0 mg/l (control) and 5000mg/l nominal loading. No morthality and no other symptoms have been observed.
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The acute fish toxicity of the registration substance was tested in a limit test following OECD203 resulting in a NOEC (96h) of 5000 mg/L nominal. No mortality and no other symptoms have been observed. It is important to note that the measured water solubility of the test substance is 25 mg/L at 20°C.

Description of key information
