Administrative data

Endpoint:
acute toxicity: inhalation
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
other information
Reliability:
3 (not reliable)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: see 'Remark'
Remarks:
Study is comparable with the inhalation hazard test described in the Annex of OECD Guideline 403 (adopted 1981) with acceptable restrictions (partly limited documentation; nominal atmosphere concentration); however, this test design is unsuitable for solids

Administration / exposure

Route of administration:
inhalation: dust
Type of inhalation exposure:
whole body
Vehicle:
air
Details on inhalation exposure:
Rats exposed for 8 h to a dust atmosphere.
Dust was generated by pumping 200 l/h dry air (no CO2) through the powder column of about 5 cm above a fritted glass disc in a glass cylinder. The glass cylinder was heated in a water bath. Temperature in the exposure chamber was room temperature.
Analytical verification of test atmosphere concentrations:
no
Duration of exposure:
8 h
Concentrations:
not applicable
No. of animals per sex per dose:
12
Control animals:
yes

other: IHT
Exp. duration:
8 h
Remarks on result:
other: 0/12 animals died after 8 hour of exposure to the test atmosphere. Due to the design of atmosphere generation, no exposure to the test substance is to exspected.
Mortality:
0/12 animals died
Clinical signs:
other: No symptoms were observed.
Gross pathology:
No findings were reported.

Any other information on results incl. tables

Due to the design of atmosphere generation, no exposure to the test substance is to exspected.
