Justification:

The substance has shown to be inherently biodegradable and thus is not considered persistent.

Based on a low bioavailability of the substance due to its biodegradation potential, high adsorption potential, low water solubility and rapid metabolism, significant accumulation in organisms is not expected.

Based on effects seen in rats in the OECD 422 study report, the substance 2-ethylhexyl 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoate is classified as STOT Rep. Exp. 2 for oral route (refer to the attached document in section 13 "Justification for classification (STOT RE: oral)") and consequently fulfils the criterion for toxicity as outlined in REACH, Annex XIII, 3.2.3 (d).
