For tetramine di-C16 -C18 acute aquatic toxicity results are available for fish (96h LC50>0.272 mg a.i./L, geometric mean measured), daphnia (48h EC50 = 0.244 mg a.i./L, geometric mean measured) and algae (72h ErC50 = 0.23 mg a.i./L mean measured initial). For the derivation of the PNEC of tetramine di-C16 -C18 for the aquatic compartment two long term key endpoints are available. The algae test gave an ErC10 of 0.050 mg a.i./L and the long term daphnia test a EC10 for reproduction of 0.148 mg a.i./L.

For the derivation of the PNECstp of tetramine di-C16 -C18 an OECD 209 test has been performed. The test substance caused no inhibiting effects on activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant at the limit test substance concentration o 1000 mg/L.  No nitrification inhibition was observed at 1000 mg/L in the preliminary test and this endpoint was therefore not evaluated in the definitive test.
