Results and discussion

Effect levels
Sex:
male/female
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Effect level:
> 200 - < 316 mg/kg bw
Based on:
test mat.
Mortality:
Animals given 79.4 and 200 mg/kg bw survived. Animals given 316 and 501 mg/kg bw died after 1 day, and those given 1000 and 2000 mg/kg bw died after 16 hours.
Clinical signs:
other: reduced appetite and activity, rapidly increasing weakness, collapse and death
Gross pathology:
hemorrhagic lungs, slightly discolored liver and gastrointestinal inflammation. There were no abnormalities in surviving animals.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
Toxicity Category III
Remarks:
Migrated information Criteria used for interpretation of results: EU
Conclusions:
An acute dermal toxicity test was conducted using occlusive exposure conditions using one albino rabbit at each of six doses of 2-methylpyridine. The LD50 was greater than 200 and less than 316 mg/kg bw.
