Flash point was determined for CAS No. 27870-92-4 The Test item 2-octadecyl-1Hthioxantheno[ 2,1,9-def]isoquinoline-1,3(2H)-dione is a orange powder .The test was performed with the help of Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. To perform the test, the Test item was filled in the oil cup up to the circular marking inside the apparatus. The temperature increase was observed with the help of calibrated thermometer that was inserted in the port provided. The source of flame was provided using the gas lighter at the surface of the oil cup by sliding the port at every 2 °C rise in temperature. Thus, the temperature at which the first flash occurred was reported as flash point .The determination was done in triplicate and the mean flashpoint of the test item was thus found to be 171.3°C.

Conclusions:
The flash point determination of 2-octadecyl-1H-thioxantheno[2,1,9-def]isoquinoline-1,3(2H)-dione (CAS No. 27870-92-4) was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was found to be 171.3°C at 969.3hPa.
