Description of key information

One toxicity test with activated sludge bacteria has been performed with Triamine C12-18, C18-unsaturated.
The EC50 of Triamine C12 -18, C18 -unsaturated (CAS no 1219458-12-4) for activated sludge after 3 hours contact time is 42 mg/L with 95% confidence limits of 20 and 89 mg/L. The EC10, EC20 and EC80 are 16, 23 and 79 mg/L, respectively.
Triamine C12 -18, C18 -unsaturated is therefore considered harmful to activated sludge.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
42 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
16 mg/L

Additional information

The EC50 of Triamine C12 -18, C18 -unsaturated (CAS no 1219458-12-4) for activated sludge after 3 hours contact time is 42 mg/L with 95% confidence limits of 20 and 89 mg/L. The EC10, EC20 and EC80 are 16, 23 and 79 mg/L, respectively.

Triamine C12 -18, C18 -unsaturated is therefore considered harmful to activated sludge.

The EC50 of Triamine C12 -18, C18 -unsaturated for activated sludge after 30 minutes contact time is 66 mg/L with 95% confidence limits of 37 and 182 mg/L. The EC10, EC20 and EC80 are 26, 36 and 122 mg/L, respectively.

The results of the 30 minutes incubation period should only be used as additional info. An incubation period of 3 hours is required to determine the toxicity of triamine C12 -18, C18 -unsaturated to activated slugde, because of the low solubility of the test substance in water

The test was shown to be valid based on the EC50 of the reference compound, 3,5-dichlorophenol (8 mg/L and 11 mg/L contact time 30 minutes and 3 hours respectively) and the control respiration rates which are within 15% of each other.
