Methyl-N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]carbamate (CAS 23432-62-4) is highly water soluble, has a negligible adsorption potential and is not readily biodegradable. However, the substance degrades rapidly in water through hydrolysis to methyl-N-[3 (trihydroxysilyl)propyl]carbamate and methanol. Thus, the silanol hydrolysis product is expected to be mainly found in the environment. Due to its high water solubility, low vapour pressure and low adsorption potential the hydrolysis product will be mainly present in the aquatic compartment.
