Description of key information

The acute toxicity of PPDA towards Daphnia magna was determined according to OECD Guideline 202.

Twenty daphnia were exposed to the test item at six concentrations ranging from 1.0 – 46 mg/L for 48 hours in a static test system according to OECD Guideline 202.. After 24 and 48 hours, the immobilised daphnia were counted.

Three concentrations showed significant immobilisation (100 % after 48 hours). None of the animals were immobilised in the control.

Potassium dichromate K2Cr2O7(CAS No. 7778-50-9) was used as positive controlin a current reference study.The value was determined as 1.2 mg/L, lying within the demanded range of 0.6 – 1.7 mg/L.

 

At the beginning and at the end of the test, the content of the test item in the test solutions was determined using HPLC-determination. The measured concentrations were in a range of 60 – 96 % of the nominal concentration. The recovery after 48 hours ranged from 76 to 85 % of the start concentration.

Therefore, the determination of the biological results was based on the geometric mean of the measured concentrations.


The following results were determined for the test item PPDA
(species: Daphnia magna).
