Data on the chronic toxicity of Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, reaction products with fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd. and propylidynemethanol (CAS 162353-70-0) to aquatic invertebrates are not available. The assessment was therefore based on a study conducted with the analogue substanceFatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., triesters with trimethylolpropane (CAS 68002-78-8) as part of a read across approach, which is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Further justification is given within the overall summary chapter 6.1 and within the analogue justification in IUCLID section 13.

The chronic toxicity of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., triesters with trimethylolpropane (CAS 68002-78-8) to aquatic invertebrates was tested in a guideline study following OECD 211 (BfB Laboratoire d'Analyses de Fluides, 2013). Daphnia magna were exposed to the test substance in a semi-static test system. A water accommodated fraction (WAF) with a loading rate of 110 mg/L was used as test solution. During the exposure period of 21 days the mortality and reproduction rate of the test animals was recorded. The substance affected neither the survival rate nor the reproduction rate of D. magna. Based on the loading rate a NOELR ≥ 0.11 g/Lwas determined.

Based on the available read across data (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5) chronic toxicity of Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, reaction products with fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd. and propylidynemethanol to aquatic invertebrates is not expected.
