Based on the geometric mean measured concentrations of the test item Carbamic acid, N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)2-(ethyl-(4-nitrosophenyl) amino) ethyl ester the 48 h-EC50 for Daphnia magna was 3.70 mg/L (95 % confidence limits: 3.59 – 3.82 mg/L).
The NOEC after 48 h was 1.80 mg/L. The LOEC after 48 h was 3.66 mg/L.
Executive summary:

In the acute immobilisation test with Daphnia magna (STRAUS), the effects of the test item Carbamic acid,N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)2-(ethyl-(4-nitrosophenyl) amino) ethyl ester (CAS1195231 -94 -7) were determined according to OECD 202 (2004) from 2013-07-30 to 2013-08-01 at Dr.U.Noack-Laboratorien, Käthe-Paulus-Str.1, 31157 Sarstedt, Germany.

 

The study was conducted under semi-static conditions over a period of 48 h with 5 concentrations of the test item Carbamic acid,N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)2-(ethyl-(4-nitrosophenyl) amino) ethyl esterin the range of 0.600 to 14.1 mg/L, prepared with dilution water in a geometric series with a separation factor of 2.2.

The test item Carbamic acid,N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)2-(ethyl-(4-nitrosophenyl) amino) ethyl esteris a green powder and has a water solubility of approximately 70 mg/L. Therefore, the test concentrations were selected not exceeding the solubility limit. However, obviously the solubility of the test item in the dilution water (ISO test water, according to OECD 202, Annex 3) under test conditions is lower than 70 mg/L. During the preparation of the stock solution of 14.1 mg test item/L, undissolved test item was observed sticking on the magnetic stir bar. The tested solutions were clear and showed a concentration related yellow colour.Twenty daphnids were exposed to each concentration level and the control.

 

The concentrations of the test item Carbamic acid,N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)2-(ethyl-(4-nitrosophenyl) amino) ethyl esterwereanalytically verified by LC-MS/MS at the start of the exposure intervals (0 and 24 h) and at the end of the exposure intervals (24 and 48 h) in all concentration levels and the control. Details of the analytical method are presented in part15.
The measured concentrations of the test item at the start of the exposure intervals (0 and 24 h) were in the range of 57 to 89 % of the nominal values. At the end of the exposure intervals (24 and 48 h), the measured concentrations of the test item were in the range of 40 to 66 % of the nominal values. The geometric mean measured concentrations of the test item were calculated to be: 0.403 – 0.881 – 1.80 – 3.66 – 8.65 mg/L.

 

The water quality parameters (i.e. pH-value and dissolved oxygen concentration), measured at the start (0 and 24 h) and at the end of the exposure intervals (24 and 48 h), were within the acceptable limits. The validity criteria of the test guideline were fulfilled.
