Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
The toxicity of the test item was determined by preparing a water-accommodated fractions (WAF) of the test item. The water-accommodated fraction was applied to dilution water containing only the fraction of multi-component test item that was dissolved and/or present as a stable dispersion. The preparation method for the WAF was as follows:
0.118 g of the test item (purity: 85%) was added to a 1100 mL beaker and dilution water was added up to 1000 mL mark of the beaker to give the nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L. The prepared test solution was stirred for 48 hours using magnetic stirrer. Undissolved test item existed on the wall of the beaker because the test item was very sticky.
After 48 hours of mixing, the middle part of solution was siphoned off after settling for 30 minutes to achieve the WAF from the nominal 100 mg/L test item loading rate. This WAF solution was used for toxicity testing and the dilution water only used for the control.
Crystallizing dishes (120 mL) containing approximately 100 mL ofWAF were used for testing.
