The evaporation rates (vT) at elevated temperatures were determined for the reference substances using a temperature program that was specific for each reference substance. Plots of the log vT obtained at elevated temperatures and 1/T were used to determine the logarithms of the evaporation rate at 20 °C (log VT20). The latter values were plotted against the vapour pressure at 20 °C in Pa. Linear regression analysis using the least squares method yielded an equation of the vapour pressure regression curve of log log PT20 = 1.04 x log VT20 + 4.32 (r = 0.993, n = 10). Validation of the method is performed at least once every year at the testing laboratory.

Executive summary:

The vapour pressure of Sodium toluene4-sulphonate was determined according to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals No. 104: "Vapour Pressure", March 23, 2006 and European Community, EC No. 761/2009, Part A: Methods for the Determination of Physico-chemical Properties, Guideline A.4: "Vapour Pressure", Official Journal of the European Union No. L220, August 24, 2009.  The isothermal thermogravimetric effusion mthod was chosen for the determination of the vapour pressure of Sodium toluenesulphonate. The vapour pressure of the test substance at 20 °C was < 1.33 x 10E-8 Pa.

KCS - Potassium p-cumenesulphonate (CAS 164524-02-1, EC 629-764-9)
NH4CS - Ammonium p-cumenesulphonate (CAS 680972-33-2, EC 811-484-5)


Two members of the category was tested for vapour pressure:
STS < 1.33 x 10E-8 Pa
NH4CS = 8 Pa
The test on SXS, SCS and KCS was waived based on melting point.
The vapour pressure on NH4XS was estimated with EPIWEB (Modified Grain Method) with a result of 3.57E-007 Pa at 25°C.
For sake of completeness vapour pressure was estimated with the same model with the followign results:
