Description of key information

Phosphine in air reacts with HOx radicals and is removed by this mechanism with a half time of

5 - 28 h depending on the conditions.
No direct photolysis with sunlight expected

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
28 h
Degradation rate constant with OH radicals:
0 m³ molecule-1 s-1

Additional information

Several peer-reviewed sources indicate that Phosphine is rapidly photodegraded by reaction with hydroxyl radical.

The same half time values from 5h to 28h are mentioned, depending on the light conditions.
