Flammability:
highly flammable

Additional information

According to REACH Regulation (Annex XI, 1.), the study on flammability does not need to be conducted if the available data are sufficient for assessment. For TFMEA, tests on flash point and auto-ignition are available. Pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected based on a consideration of the structure of the substance.

The flash point of TFMEA was determined according to EU test method A.9 (equilibrium method closed cup). The flash point of TFMEA is reported to be 19.5°C at 1013 hPa. The boiling point of TFMEA is 108°C. Based on these results, TFMEA is classified as Flammable liquids, Category 2.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data, TFMEA has to be classified as Flammable liquid, Category 2 and labelled with H225: Highly flammable liquid and vapour according to the criteria given in regulation (EC) 1272/2008.

According to the former European directive on classification and labelling 67/548/EEC, the substance has to be classified as R11 Highly flammable.
