Additional information

The acute toxic effects of DOWFAX XD 8390 in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) were investigated. Fish were exposed to the test substance for 96 h at concentrations up to 3.2 mg/L. The lowest concentration resulting in 100% mortality within 96 h was 1.0 mg/L. The 96 h LC50 was 0.42 mg/L (95% confidence limits 0.30 - 0.50; slope 3.9). It is concluded that XD 8390 has high toxicity to fish. In a separate study, two Lots, #09254 and #10154, of DOWFAX XD-8390 were evaluated for static acute fish toxicity with fathead minncws (Pimephales promelas Rafinesque) . Groups of ten minnows were exposed to concentrations of the toxicant in ten liters of Lake Huron water at 10°C for 96 hours. A control exposure with fish, but without toxicant, was included to provide a measure of the health of the test fish and quality of dilution waters. No adverse effect level: <0.36 mg/l active (lot 09254) and 0.36 mg/l active (lot 10154). The 96 h LC50: 0.86 mg/l active (lot 09254) and 1.03 mg/l active (lot 10154).
