- Endpoint:
- water solubility
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 2003
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study with acceptable restrictions
- Remarks:
- The study was conducted according to an internationally recognised method, with some non-critical deviations. The substance is considered to be adequately characterised with its purity. Therefore validation applies with restrictions.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
- Deviations:
- yes
- Remarks:
- loading rate
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Not applicable
- GLP compliance:
- no
- Type of method:
- flask method
- Key result
- Water solubility:
- 709 mg/L
- Conc. based on:
- test mat. (dissolved fraction)
- Loading of aqueous phase:
- 20 g/L
- Incubation duration:
- 24 - 72 h
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- pH:
- 5
- Conclusions:
- Interpretation of results (migrated information): moderately soluble (100-1000 mg/L)
- Executive summary:
The water solubility of the test substance was measured according to EU method A6, flask method, with some non-critical deviations. Three flasks, with a loading rate of 20 g/L were presaturated at 30°C, and equilibrated for at 20°C. Each flask was sampled at 24, 48 and 72h, and each sample analysed in triplicate with HPLC. Results show variability, but in the acceptable range, so the mean value was retained.
The water solubility of the test substance was determined to be 709 mg/L (pH 5).

No increasing tendency was observed, and results are within the acceptable variability limit of 15% (-13% between 24 and 48h), therefore the mean of all results was retained.
Description of key information
Considered as moderately soluble, with equilibrium reached from =< 24h. pH of saturated solution: 5.0.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 709 mg/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
Additional information
A reliable experimental study, conducted similarly to OECD method, is available. Despite restrictions (deviations leading to inaccuracy) it is considered as a key study. The result is retained as key data.
