Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP compliant, guideline study, available as unpublished report, acceptable without restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Melting / freezing pt.:
ca. 140 °C
Decomposition:
yes
Remarks on result:
other: No definitive signs of melting below 450 °C

Authors state that due to the complex nature of the thermograms, supplementary visual observations were made. Observations indicated decomposition of the test item with the loss of gases from approximately 140 °C. Knowledge of the structure of the test item indicates that it is probable the test item decomposed with the loss of nitrous oxides. Continued observations indicated no evidence of melting up to 290 °C, indicating endotherms in the two thermograms are not due to melting (temperature range 140 to 240 °C). No other thermal events that indicate melting below a temperature of 450 °C.

Conclusions:
Tris(nitrato-O)nitrosylruthenium decomposed from approximately 140 °C with no definitive signs of melting below 450°C.
Executive summary:

This is a GLP compliant, guideline study considered suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. Tris(nitrato-O)nitrosylruthenium decomposed from approximately 140 °C with no definitive signs of melting below 450°C.
