Executive summary:

The flash point determination of calcium Distearate (CAS No. 1592-23-0)was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was determine to be 175.6°C at 974.1hPa.

Description of key information

The flash point determination of calcium Distearate (CAS No. 1592-23-0)was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was found to be 175.6°C at 974.1hPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:

Additional information

The flash point determination of calcium Distearate (CAS No. 1592-23-0)was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was found to be 175.6°C at 974.1hPa.

Other supporting available data of GSBL database indicates the flash point of Calcium stearate was determined to be 277 Deg C.

As the data from lab has K1 reliability and the test was performed using OECD guideline which has the value of flash point as 175.6°C at 974.1hPa,thus considered as key study for the chemical safety assessment.

Also based on criteria mentioned in CLP regulation the chemical has flash point >than 60 degree C hence the substance Calcium stearate (CAS No. 1592 -23 -0)was considered to be non-flammable.
