Description of key information

Pivalic acid is practically not toxic by the oral, dermal and inhalation routes of exposure in laboratory animals. The acute rat oral LD50 was 2000 mg/kg of body weight. The acute rat and guinea pig 4 hr inhalation LC50 was > 4 mg/L and mouse 4 hr inhalation LC100 was <= 4 mg/L . The acute dermal LD50 was 3160 mg/kg of body weight.
