Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

The test substance, 3-amino-2,2-dimethyl-propionamide, was tested for the assessment of skin allergic effects using albino guinea pigs. The test was performed under GLP according to the OECD guideline 406. The Magnuson and Kligman maximisation procedure was followed. The test was performed on albino guinea pigs (males and females) with restricted number of animals (10 exposed and 5 control guinea pigs). The experiment proceeded in three phases: two induction phases (intradermal injection and topical application) and the challenge phase (topical application). Potential skin reactions were evaluated at the end of the experiment. The exposed animals showed no allergic skin reactions and no other negative clinical symptoms throughout the experiment. The test substance 3 -amino-2,2-dimethyl-propionamide was not shown to be a contact allergen.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of the available skin sensitisation study the substance does not need to be classified according to Directive 67/548/EEC and according to EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
