In an OECD 111 study a half-life of tert-butylamine in water at pH values ranging from 4 to 9 was determined to be >1 year in an OECD 111 and is therefore considered to be stable in water.

After evaporation or exposure to the atmosphere, the substance is expected to photodegrade by reaction with OH-radicals with a half-life of 17.9 hours (EPIWin, AOP v1.92, 2007).
