Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

NOEC=46 mg/L (nominal cocnentration, corrected for water content of test item), algae, OECD 201

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
46 mg/L

Additional information

The influence of the test item Mexoryl SBO on the growth of the freshwater green algal species Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was investigated in a 72-hour static test according to the OECD TG 201.

The nominal concentrations of the test item of 4.6, 10, 22, 46 and 100 mg/L (corrected for the water content of the test item; absolute concentrations of test item: 8.4, 18.2, 39.4, 85.1 and 183.8 mg/L) were tested in parallel with a control.

The 72 -hours EC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L for both growth rate and yield (corrected for the water content, absolute concentrations of test item: 183.8 mg/L).

The 72-hour NOEC was determined to be 46 mg/L (corrected for water content, absolute concentration of test item; 85.1 mg/L), since up to and including this test concentration, the growth rate and yield of the algae after 72 hours were not significantly lower than in the control.
