Description of key information

Partition coefficient (constituents of phenyl silsesquioxanes): 9 at 20°C (QSAR)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
9
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The determination of the log Kow of phenyl silsesquioxanes as a whole substance is not scientifically meaningful for the purpose of assessment of exposure or risk. The needs associated with a sound understanding of partition coefficient of the substance are adequately met by the available data on constituents. The partition coefficient data for constituents of phenyl silsesquioxanes were determined using a validated QSAR estimation method. The log Kow values for all constituents are >9; this is limited to value of 9. Limiting the log Kow to 9 reflects the reality that higher values can neither be reliably measured nor have any real scientific meaning.
