Description of key information

There is some data available for Hydrocarbons, C11-C14, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%). Additionally, data is also available for structural analogues, Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%) and Hydrocarbons, C10-C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%). This data is read across to based on analogue read across and a discussion and report on the read across strategy is provided as an attachment in IUCLID Section 13.

Acute Fish Toxicity:

Water accommodated fractions of Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2 -25%), produced a 96-hour LL50 value in the range 10-30 mg/L with rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss.

Water accommodated fractions of Hydrocarbons, C10-C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2 -25%), produced a 96-hour LL50 value in the range 10-100 mg/L with rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss.

Chronic Fish Toxicity:

The aquatic toxicity was estimated using the Petrotox computer model. The estimated freshwater fish 28-day NOELR (No Observed Effect Loading Rate) value for hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2 -25%), is 0.13 mg/l based on growth.

The estimated freshwater fish 28-day NOELR (No Observed Effect Loading Rate) value for Hydrocarbons, C10-C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%)is 0.091 mg/l based on growth.

The estimated freshwater fish 28-day NOELR (No Observed Effect Loading Rate) value for Hydrocarbons, C11-C14, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%)is 0.079 mg/l based on growth.

Acute Invertebrate Toxicity:

Water accommodated fractions of hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, 2 -25% aromatics, produced a 48-hour EL50 value in the range 10 - 22 mg/L for Daphnia magna.

Water accommodated fractions of hydrocarbons, C10-C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, 2 -25% aromatics, produced a 48-hour EL50 value in the range 100 - 220 mg/L with Daphnia magna.

Chronic Invertebrate Toxicity:

A study was performed on Daphnia magna exposed to hydrocarbons, C9 -C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2 -25%). The 21-d NOELR based on reproduction was found to be 0.28 mg/l.

Algal Toxicity:

Algal cultures were exposed to water accomodated fractions (WAFs) of Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, isoalkanes. cyclics, arornatics (2-25%) in two separate studies. The 72-hr EL50 value for growth rate were 4.1 and 4.6 -10 mg/l. The 72-hr NOELR values for growth rate were 0.76 and 0.22 mg/l, respectively.

The EL50 for algal cultures exposed to WAFs of Hydrocarbons, C10-C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%) were 10 -100 mg/l.

Microorganisms Toxicity:

The hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%), estimated protozoan, Tetrahymena pyriformis, 48-hr EL50 value for this substance is 43.98 mg/L based on growth inhibition.

The hydrocarbons, C11-C14, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%),estimated protozoan, Tetrahymena pyriformis, 48-hr EL50 value is 185.1 mg/L, based on growth inhibition.

"Hydrocarbons, C9-C14, aliphatics (2-25% aromatics)" have shown to be biodegradable. Therefore, they are not toxic to microorganisms.
