Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

key study
Study period:
March 06, 2015 - March 09, 2015
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1 (Grewer-oven)
Deviations:

no
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions

4.3 g of the test item were placed into the wire-basket.

The temperature of the test item followed behind the oven temperature starting at an oven temperature of approx. 30 °C. At an oven temperature of approx. 360 °C, an exothermal effect started.

As the exothermic process started above 220 °C no further testing needs to be applied.

Conclusions:
According to the guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1 (Grewer-Oven) no self-ignition temperature was observed up to 360 °C (oven temperature).
Executive summary:

According to the guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1 (Grewer-Oven) no self-ignition temperature was observed up to 360 °C (oven temperature).

Due to these results, the test item does not have to be classified as a “self-heating substance”, class 4.2 of the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods / Manual of Tests and Criteria and according to chapter 2.11 of the GHS (CLP) regulations (UN Globally harmonized system of classification and labelling of chemicals (GHS), 4threvised edition, 2011 (UN GHS) and also chapter 2.11 in the CLP regulation1272/2008 (EU GHS)).

Description of key information

According to the guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1 (Grewer-Oven) no self-ignition temperature was observed up to 360 °C (oven temperature).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The purpose of this study was the determination of the relative self-ignition temperature of the test item according to: Guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1 (Grewer-oven). In this study, no self-ignition temperature was observed up to 360 °C (oven temperature).
