Description of key information

Available studies are available on two analogue substances, OB 1 -DSA and OB 3a-MSA. A justification for the read-across is given in Section 13 of IUCLID. A test was performed on the substance OB 1-DSA according to OECD 2017 with Eisenia foetida and LC50 >3000 mg/Kg dry  eight. The original report is not available. A second test was performed on the analogous substance OB 3a-MSA according to OECD 2017 with Eisenia foetida and LC50 >3000 mg/Kg dry weight. No concerns for soil toxicity is then arisen by the presented acute studies on the substance under investigation.

According to the REACH Regulation, Annex IX, Column 2 (specific rules for adaptation from Column 1), further soil toxicity testing is not proposed by the registrant because the Chemical Safety Assessment, according to Annex I, does not indicate the need to investigate further the effects on soil organisms. In order to limit the hazardous for soil compartment, the risk assessment for the substances belonging to the category has been performed using the highest experimental Koc value. In this way, the Predicted Environmental Concentrations in soil are maximized.
