Additional information

In general, textile chemicals especially textile dyes are designed to be no organic substrates for microorganisms, fungi and higher organisms. Therefore, these substances are considered to be not biodegradable at all. Nevertheless, basic studies to assess biodegradability of the test item have been performed.

A key study reported biological elimination of FAT 40032 as 8 %. BOD5 and COD values of 13 and 935 mg O2/g were reported in two other key studies respectively.

The relevant BOD5/COD quotient is <0.5, therefore the substance is not indicative of rapid degradation.

Taking data from key study and supporting studies in account, the test substance FAT 40032 is considered to be not biodegradable.

The FAT 40032 has been determined to be hydrolytically stable, i.e., a half-life of greater than 1 year at 25 °C at pH 7 and 9, 198 days at pH 4.
