Description of key information

The auto-ignition temperature of Veilex2 is not considered critical and is anticipated to be 310oC.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
310 °C

Additional information

The auto-ignition of Veilex2 is not considered critical because the substance is not flammable in air based on its flashpoint and boiling point as described in the flammability endpoint. For Veilex2 auto-flammability information of CP Formate is used for the autoflammability endpoint: 310oC. This is because their structures are very similar as well as their flashpoint and boiling point. Both substances have cyclohexane rings to with an ester group is attached by means of an ethyl group. The Veilex2 and CP Formate flashpoints are 78 and 840C, respectively; and for the boiling point these are 216 and 220oC, respectively. An experimental study on Veilex2 is not expected to change the auto-flammability results significantly.
