Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There is one guideline study available investigating changes in the respiration rate of activated sludge in presence of geranylacetate, which is the on of both main component of the reaction mass and structural analog to neryl acetate, the second main component. The study was set up according to ISO 8192 (Test for Inhibition of Oxygen Consumption by Activated Sludge) with domestic activated sludge as inoculum. The respiration rate was not affected after 30 minutes exposure up to a nominal substance concentration of 800 mg/L.
