Description of key information

The substance is hydrolytically unstable at pH 4, 7 and 9 (half-life less than 12 hours; see IUCLID chapter 5.1.2). Therefore, a study does not need to be conducted according to REACH Annex VII, 7.7, column 2. Additionally, the water solubility of the substance was found to be very low in the hydrolysis studies (IUCLID chapter 5.1.2). Two QSAR estimates gave values of 11 and 23 mg/l.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
20 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The unpolymerized hydrolysis product 2,2,4 (or 2,4,4)-trimethylhexane-1,6-diamine is completely miscible with water at 23.8 °C. The pH is 13.5 at 476 g/l.
