Additional information

The toxic effects of 2 -ethylhexylamine to aquatic algae was investigated in an OECD 201 GLP study conducted in 2010 by LAUS GmbH (Sponsors Oxea GmbH and BASF SE); all validity criteria of the test are fulfilled. Based on the growth rate an ErC50 (72 h) of 10 mg/L for Desmodesmus subspicatus was determined. The 72-h NOErC was 0.27 mg/L.

The original study report does not contain any specifications of an ErC10 value. Therefore, the results were revalidated using ToxRat Professional v2.10 both, based on nominal concentrations and based on the geometric mean of measured concentrations as well.

Based on growth rate, the model calculated the 72-h ErC50 to be 5.0 mg/L (measured; nominal = 11.1 mg/L) and the 72-h ErC10 to be 3.4 mg/L (measured; nominal = 3.6 mg/L). Due to mathematical reasons or inappropriate data, the ToxRat-estimation model could not calculate any NOEC values on the basis of growth rate (NOErC). Therefore, NOEC-values are specified on the basis of yield (NOEyC) instead. The model calculated the NOEyC to be 0.3 mg/L (nominal; measured = 0.5 mg/L).
