 Relative density

 EEC A.3

(CIPAC MT 3.2.1)

Absolute- 1.471 g/ml

Relative - 1.471

To calculate absolute density the following equation were used:

ρ = ((m3 - m0) / m3 - m0 + m2 - m4) ρx

ρ = density of the tested material at 20°C;

ρx = density of immersing liquid

To calculate relative density the following equation was used:

ρ204 = ρt / ρ4water

ρ = absolute density of tested material at 20°C, [g/ml];

ρ4water= density at 4°C temperature ca. 1.0000 g/ml;

ρ204 = relative density of the tested material, the absolute density in relation to water at 4°C.

Conclusions:
The average calculated relative density of the tested material at 20°C temperature was 1.471.
Executive summary:

Determination of relative density was carried out in accordance with the EU A.3 method, with GLP. The density determination of the tested material was performed using the Gay-Lussac pycnometer. The average measured absolute density of the tested material at 20°C temperature was 1.471 g/mL. The average calculated relative density of the tested material at 20°C temperature was 1.471.

Description of key information

Key study: Test method EU A.3. GLP study. The average calculated relative density of the tested material at 20°C temperature was 1.471.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
1.471

Additional information

Key study: The density determination of the tested material Methyl 5-mesyl-o-anisate, using the Gay-Lussac pycnometer in accordance with EEC Method A3 (CIPAC MT 3.2.1) was based in measuring the mass of the substance occupying a unit volume at 20°C. The average measured absolute density of the tested material at 20°C temperature was 1.471 g/mL. The average calculated relative density of the tested material at 20°C temperature was 1.471.
