Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

Not explosive

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

To determine, whether the substance itself could harbour explosive properties the following assessment is considered:

Column 2 of REACH Annex VII provides the following specific rules for adaptation of the standard information requirement for explosive properties. The study does not need to be conducted if:

• there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule, or

•the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen and the calculated oxygen balance is less than 200, or

•The organic substance or a homogenous mixture of organic substances contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties, but the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500 °C.

The tes item does not contain chemical groups associated to explosive properties as reported in Table R.7.1-28 .

Therefore the test on explosive properties does not need to be conducted.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not classified as explosive under Regulation 1272/2008.
