First-aid measures

1. Description of first aid measures

Remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air.

On skin contact:

Wash thoroughly with soap and water.

On contact with eyes:

Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open.

On ingestion:

Rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water.

2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: No significant reaction of the human body to the product known.

3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Symptomatic treatment (decontamination, vital functions).

Fire-fighting measures

1. Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:

water spray, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide

2. Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

carbon oxides

The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released in case of fire. Dust explosion hazard.

3. Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:

Contaminated extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with official regulations. Dust can form an explosive mixture with air.

Accidental release measures

Dust can form an explosive mixture with air.

1. Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing. Information regarding personal protective measures see, section 8.

2. Environmental precautions

Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Dampen, pick up mechanically and dispose of. Correctly dispose of recovered product immediately. Avoid raising dust. After cleaning flush away traces with water.

Handling and storage

1. Precautions for safe handling

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary). Avoid the formation and deposition of dust. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing.

Protection against fire and explosion:

Sources of ignition should be kept well clear. Dust can form an explosive mixture with air. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Segregate from oxidants. Segregate from reducing agents.

Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep container dry. Protect against moisture.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection:

Breathing protection if dusts are formed. Wear respiratory protection if ventilation is inadequate. Particle filter with medium efficiency for solid and liquid particles (e.g. EN 143 or 149, Type P2 or FFP2)

Hand protection:

Wear chemical resistant protective gloves.

Suitable chemical resistant safety gloves (EN 374) also with prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374): E.g. nitrile rubber (0.4 mm), chloroprene rubber (0.5 mm), butyl rubber (0.7 mm) etc.

Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.

Eye protection:

Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Body protection:

Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).

General safety and hygiene measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe dust. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity

No hazardous reactions if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Formation of flammable gases:

Remarks:

Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.

2. Chemical stability

The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

3. Possibility of hazardous reactions

The product may contain explosive fine dust or such dust may be produced by abrasion during transport or product transfer.

The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

4. Conditions to avoid

Avoid humidity. Avoid extreme heat. Avoid dust formation.

5. Incompatible materials

Substances to avoid:

oxidizing agents, reducing agents

6. Hazardous decomposition products

No hazardous decomposition products if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Must be sent to a suitable incineration plant, observing local regulations.

The waste code in accordance with the European waste catalog (EWC) must be specified in cooperation with disposal agency/manufacturer/authorities.

Contaminated packaging:

Uncontaminated packaging can be re-used.

Packs that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of in the same manner as the contents.
