Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One GLP Guideline study according to OECD 211 (semi-static) investigating the chronic toxicity of didocosyl sebacate (CAS 42233-75-0) to freshwater invertebrates is available. (Hoger, 2013).

Due to uncertainties regarding the water solubility limit of the test item a supersaturate dispersion of the test item with a loading rate of 100 mg/L was continuously stirred at room temperature in the dark over 96 hours. Then, the dispersion was filtered. The undiluted filtrate of the dispersion and dilutions of 1:2.2, 1:4.6, 1:10 and 1:22 were tested. Additionally, a control was tested in parallel.

The preparation of the test media was based on the OECD Guidance Document on Aquatic Toxicity Testing of Difficult Substances and Mixtures (2000).

Substance specific analysis in the test media could not be performed caused by the composition and the characteristics of the test item. Instead, the total organic carbon (TOC) was measured as the sum parameter of the components of the test item and as an indicator of the test item concentration in the test media.

The measured TOC-values indicated that the solubility of the test item in the test media was very low.Except one sample at day 19, the C-content of all samples were below 1.0 mg/L and therefore below Limit of quantification.

The test item had no toxic effects on survival and reproduction of Daphnia magna after the exposure period of 21 days up to the solubility limit of the test item in test water. Thus, the 21-day NOEC of the test item was determined to be at least the loading rate of 100 mg/L.

The 21-day LOEC was above the highest loading rate of 100 mg/L. The EC50 of the reproduction rate after 21 days could not be calculated due to the low toxic effect of the test item on the reproduction rate up to the highest loading rate.
