Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Only a few valid ready biodegradability test results for N,N,N’,N’,N’’-pentamethyl-N-C16-18 (even numbered) C18 unsat.-alkyl-1,3-propanediammonium chloride are available because this substance is very toxic to micro-organisms. N,N,N’,N’,N’’-pentamethyl-N-C16-18 (even numbered) C18 unsat.-alkyl-1,3-propanediammonium chloride tested in the presence of silica gel was biodegraded 28% at day 28 in the Closed Bottle test indicating partial degradation. Other data prove that the alkyl chain of N,N,N’,N’,N’’-pentamethyl-N-C16-18 (even numbered) C18 unsat.-alkyl-1,3-propanediammonium chloride is readily converted into water-soluble non-toxic nitrogen containing substances. These biodegradation products are persistent in OECD 301 (ready biodegradability) and 302 (inherent biodegradability) tests. This means that the half-life for the intermediate in all environmental comparts can be set to ∞ as a worst-case.
