Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Acute oral toxicity, rats: LD50 = 29.2 g per kg body weight

Acute dermal toxicity, rabbits. LD50 > 20 mL per kg body weight which is equal to 18840 mg/kg bw.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
29 200 mg/kg bw

Acute toxicity: via inhalation route

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Acute toxicity: via dermal route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
18 840 mg/kg bw

Additional information

The acute oral toxicity was 29.2 g per kg body weight in rats (LD50) and the acute dermal toxicity was > 20 mL per kg body weight in rabbits. Both studies are reported in 1954. Nevertheless the data indicate very low or no acute toxicity via oral or dermal routes.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification is derived from the the acute toxicity data, as the LD50 values are far beyond the limits for classification of 2000 or even 5000 mg per kg body weight.
