EC number: 270-732-5 | CAS number: 68477-42-9 A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained from extractive distillation of saturated and unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbons usually ranging in carbon numbers from C3 through C5, predominantly C4. It consists of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C3 through C5, predominantly butenes and isobutylene.

In accordance with REACH Annex VII column 2 adaptation, studies on skin sensitisation do not need to be conducted as members of the C4 high 1,3-butadiene category (CAS numbers; 68476-52-8, 68477-42-9, 68955-28-2, 87741-01-3, 92045-23-3) are flammable gases at room temperature. No studies have been conducted on skin sensitisation with the category members but there are no indications from repeat dose studies that any of these gases cause skin sensitisation and would therefore warrant classification under Dir 1999/45/EC or GHS/CLP.

There is no indication that streams within the C4 high 1,3-butadiene category cause skin or respiratory sensitisation and therefore, according to the EU and GHS/CLP criteria, the category members do not require classification for sensitisation properties.
